Early Years Team

About

An intimate rōpū of four kaitakawaenga, the Early Years Team brings a rich breadth of professional experience and personal journey to their shared kaupapa. As innovative thinkers and active participants in the ever-evolving landscape of early childhood education, the team is grounded in a strong sense of purpose. Mahi remains responsive to both national priorities and the unique aspirations of the communities served — ensuring practice reflects what truly matters for kaiako, tamariki, and whānau.

A steadfast commitment to building and growing cultural competence sits at the heart of this kaupapa. The rōpū support services to recognise and nurture identity, language, and culture, while guiding kaiako to deepen their understanding of their own identity and aspirations. Their ability to engage kaiako in professional learning that grows collective funds of knowledge strengthens not only individual practice but also whānau aspirations for tamariki. Relational in their approach and reflective of each unique service context, kaitakawaenga value diverse perspectives, foster professional networks, and work flexibly within time and place constraints. Through a strengths-based lens, they bring ‘fresh eyes’ that celebrate progress and inspire purposeful action for the future.
