Teaching Assistant PLD

This 2-day Teacher Aide course offers practical training to strengthen capability through a Structured Literacy Approach. The workshop focuses on literacy support delivered alongside and under the guidance of classroom teachers, building Teacher Aide confidence and understanding of how to make the most effective instruction for the needs of our students. The training introduces the fundamentals of Structured Literacy and develops essential skills for reinforcing and extending classroom teaching.

 

Across two days, Teacher Aide participants will:

• understand and explore the key components involved in building code knowledge;

• use a scope and sequence in action;

• strengthen knowledge and skills in handwriting, vocabulary, morphology and comprehension; and

• engage in hands-on activities using the Tātai Angitu Teacher Kit and resources.

 

By the end of the course, TAs will be equipped with practical strategies they can use immediately to support learners under teacher guidance, ensuring their work complements and strengthens classroom literacy instruction.
