Sarah Etchells
Sarah has taught for over thirty years across the age range from Early Childhood through to Secondary in the UK and New Zealand as a classroom teacher, in senior leadership roles, and as SENCO, RTLB and RTLit. Sarah has had a longstanding interest in teaching students who are English Language Learners and those with diverse needs. Sarah’s commitment to equity was highlighted by her MA in Education on providing access to literacy for students with communication difficulties and in receiving the UK equivalent to ACET for her specialist classroom teaching. As an RTLB, Sarah recognised the close relationship between behavioural and literacy difficulties for many students and begun her NZ Structured Literacy journey with TEPIL. Later, Sarah became a BLSA facilitator and then an RTLit supporting students with the highest literacy needs. Sarah was thrilled to join the Tātai Angitu Literacy@Massey team in 2024.
